of the Month ~ August 2007
Stabilization Ponds—Bagley,
MN
In
order to meet phosphorus discharge limits,
the City of Bagley uses a pontoon boat to
add
liquid aluminum sulfate (alum) directly
to the ponds, chemically removing phosphorus
prior to discharge. This procedure, along
with the addition of a fourth cell to the
existing three-cell pond, will give the
City adequate storage capacity for the next
20 years while meeting state and federal
water-pollution guidelines.
